'Get to know yourself like your life depends on it.'

This motto or saying came to me the other morning while deadlifting at the gym at 5am. It was also on the heels of some tragic news I received the night before.
We strive for all the security we can get our hands on, whether it be financial, emotional or physical safety. It occurred to me, that without an objective sense of myself and my needs, I am essentially running blind. And I realized more recently in life that this isn’t as difficult to achieve as I once thought. Those metrics of security that I mentioned before are hardly adequate to save me from anything but material squalor.
Over these recent years I have had some colloquial slaps in the face that life handed me-without a doubt, I can now say, what felt like assured net losses in the beginning have been transformed into massive net gains…by a long shot.
Attunement is a loaded term, for good reason - it relates to the ability to sense one’s own requirements and be aligned with them. 'Harmony' would likely be an excellent word representation of the result of great attunement to one’s self.
I find that if I traipse a path of endless growth, sustain a student mentality and stay true to myself- I can avoid unnecessary resentment and align my life with clearer edges and face it head on.
Nothing is ever promised to us, from health to wealth and longevity. We as society, try to retain that notion in hopes to create a level of certainty. All of which is a steaming pile of BS in all reality. Thankfully here, I get the opportunity and freedom to choose how I’d like to live and be open to shift and transition as many times as I need to in the hopes that I am getting closer and closer to the person I am most aligned to. The peeling away of all that is not me.
I have been taught that it is arguable that we can truly add anything to a person- more chipping away and exposing what is unerringly us at our essence. Always be prepared, we can outgrow not just people in our lives but ourselves too.
Don’t shy away for change, embrace it- your life depends on it.
